I need some advice from the ladies. I bought a dress on eBay and I couldn't wait until it came in. It came in the mail....and it didn't fit. The seller sold it as is so I couldn't return it (that's eBay for ya) but I liked the way it looked so much that I just stuffed it in my closet hoping I could figure some way to wear it. It is labeled a size 12 (my size) and I guess I didn't see any length dimension on the auction but it is WAY too short. Like, it shows my hoo-ha short. I have no interest in showing everyone my lady bits, so I thought I'd try to wear it over jeans. The Steve said it looked fine, but I need a woman's opinion.

Part of me feels like this looks really good and is trendy, and another part of me thinks I'm crazy. Plus, I've got some wide child-bearing hips I've got to work with and I don't know if this works. What do you think?

First of all, why do you look so pissed off?
I like the dress with pants, but I think it's too much blue. It looks more like shorts to me for some reason.
LOL. I was in the middle of going through all my clothes, so that's a determined look on my face.
I 2nd the too much blue. You can disregard this post since I'm not a lady.
Me
I think it looks really good, but I ditto the blue thing. Do you have any really dark blue or black jeans? I think that would look better. Right now, the jeans and shirt/dress are basically the same color, and think that's why it seems to be so much blue.
Just another suggestion... Have you thought about pairing it with leggings? Maybe a brown or gray pair with some cute ballet flats? I *heart* me some leggings... :)
I was going to suggest leggings too, but I think a darker or lighter jean would do it.
If none of those looked good I would probably cut a couple inches off the bottom of the dress/shirt.
lisa - Thanks for the suggestion, but I'm not a leggings person. I get really self conscious about my legs and I don't think I could wear them.
teresa - I do have a pair of lighter jeans I might try it with. I also thought about shortening it...we'll see. :)
I think the jeans could work with the dress but it is too much of the same shade. Do you have a darker pair of jeans? Maybe a stonewash?
I see a lot of the leggings are in but I really think leggings are hideous. I only wear them underneath my jeans (I had to go to Reno for work and I'm not used to snow)...
I'd like to say you could get away with some capris but you like kinda tall and it might look a little funny. But jeans totally work...just go with a different shade.
I say go with either lighter or darker jeans and maybe pair it with a belt that you wear over the shirt, a bit lower on your hips than you would normally wear a belt and that will help define the dress a bit more. I think you can defititely pull it off!
